About the Author
Rakesh Kumar Singh is a serving CRPF officer who has written six books, that includes novels and non-fiction. He has also written more than 100 articles in leading journals, newspapers and magazines on subjects ranging from internal security, police management and behavioural science.
In his twenty-seven years in the CRPF, he has been awarded several medals by the Government of India as well as ten Commendation Discs by the CRPF. He has served in the conflict zones of Kashmir and the Northeast besides the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) areas of Dantewada. He is a resource person in the Bureau of Police Research and Development and is regularly invited to deliver lectures at various police academies. Under his command, his unit in Bastar was adjudged as the Best CRPF Operational Battalion in 2019.
He has received the prestigious Govind Ballav Pant Purashkar twice for two of his books: Naxalwaad aur Police ki Bhumikaa(2011) and Naxalwaad Ek Ankaha Sacch (2021). His two fictions are under publication from Rupa Publications and the second one from Om Book International.
Personal Life
Rakesh Kumar Singh was born on 4th September 1971 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He has done his graduation and post graduation in History from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. He also has a diploma in training and development.
Rakesh Kumar Singh, as Assistant Commandant in 1995. He has served in all conflict theaters such as Kashmir, North east and special operation Zone of Chhattisgarh where he played an important role in curbing naxal menace. He has distinction to serve both Academies of CRPF i.e. Internal Security Academy and CRPF Academy as faculty members. Due to his hard work and professional approach all the units he commanded had got the trophy of the sector’s best Adm or Ops battalion every year. For his professional excellence he got the opportunity to command five battalions and at present commanding an elite RAF battalion. Commandant 194 RAF joined CRPF. He led his Bns from the front. His team has always excelled and under his command 195 Bn won the most coveted Best Ops CRPF battalion of Left Wing Extremism area in 2019-20.For his invaluable services, hard work and dedication he has been awarded with Internal security Medal three times, Special Police duty medal twice, 06 DG Disc for Ops, 03 DG Disc for Adm.
Rakesh is married to his college time beau Shagun. They both are blessed to be parents of daughter Subhangi, who is a poetess herself and a post graduate in Psychology from Delhi University. Her maiden book ‘Khidkiyo ke paar Akaash’ a collection of Hindi poetry has drawn much appreciation. They have a loving son, Aditya Shauryavardhan, who is doing his Undergraduation BE in Computer Sc.
