The Officer

Rakesh Kumar Singh is a serving CRPF officer who has written six books, that includes novels and non-fiction. He has also written more than 100 articles in leading journals, newspapers and magazines on subjects ranging from internal security, police management and behavioural science.

In his twenty-seven years in the CRPF, he has been awarded several medals by the Government of India as well as ten Commendation Discs by the CRPF. He has served in the conflict zones of Kashmir and the Northeast besides the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) areas of Dantewada. He is a resource person in the Bureau of Police Research and Development and is regularly invited to deliver lectures at various police academies. Under his command, his unit in Bastar was adjudged as the Best CRPF Operational Battalion in 2019.

He has received the prestigious Govind Ballav Pant Purashkar twice for two of his books: Naxalwaad aur Police ki Bhumikaa(2011) and Naxalwaad Ek Ankaha Sacch (2021). His two fictions are under publication from Rupa Publications and the second one from Om Book International.
